"saucer-like discs"The witness's own shape words

What happened

About a dozen shiny "saucer-like discs" crossed the town, followed late in the morning by what witnesses called a swarm. One witness told McDonald he saw 20 to 30 disc-shaped objects, including one larger red one. Ruppelt's Blue Book account attributed the sightings to a Skyhook balloon breaking up. McDonald checked Holloman and Office of Naval Research launch records and found no ready balloon explanation. Skeptics note that no photograph was taken.

Witnesses

Hundreds of residents (estimates ran from hundreds to over a thousand); a witness named Boddy, interviewed by James McDonald

Explanation
