What happened
The two jets were flying about 100 ft apart when an object passed between them, within about 50 ft of the lead aircraft. The pilot told Graves it looked like a dark grey or black cube inside a clear sphere. The flight was ended and a hazard report filed. The account first appeared in The New York Times on May 26, 2019, and Graves repeated it to Congress in 2023.
