What happened
A thermal video about four minutes long appears to show a small object moving fast and low, crossing toward the sea, seeming to enter the water and split in two. The Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU) analyzed 7,027 frames in a 2015 report, estimated it at three to five feet long at 40 to 120 mph, and found no conventional match. AARO's 2025 assessment says the objects stayed over land and only seemed to vanish through low thermal contrast. It concluded with moderate confidence that they were a pair of sky lanterns, which local resorts often release. SCU disputes this.
