What happened

Video filmed off a CIC screen shows a spherical object hovering, moving side to side and then dropping to the sea; someone says it splashed. A Carrier Strike Group 9 note called it a possible unmanned aerial system, spherical in shape, that the ship assessed had sunk; a search found no wreckage. Corbell, who leaked the video, called it "transmedium" and said radar put it at about 6 ft across. The Defense Department confirmed Navy personnel filmed it. This was the same month as the USS Russell "pyramids" (triangle catalog entry 77).
