What happened

Witnesses described a silvery, purple-hued saucer the size of two or three cars that descended into The Grange paddock. A VFSRS report form noted that it "turned edge & disappeared fast." Contemporary accounts varied: some described a weather balloon, others a "round humped silver disc," and the count ranged from one to five objects. Greenwood himself described a silvery "rod." Staff were reportedly told to "talk to no-one." Researcher Keith Basterfield proposes a stray HIBAL radiation-sampling balloon, possibly flight 292, though launch records are incomplete.

Witnesses

Students and staff of Westall High School and Westall State School (one report says over 200); science teacher Andrew Greenwood
