What happened
This is an aggregate entry. The Ministry of Defence received 643 UFO reports in 2009, a large share describing orange balls, sometimes in groups moving slowly "in formation." A Coventry woman reported two orange balls hovering over her garden. The surge was one reason the MoD closed its UFO desk in November 2009. Historian David Clarke notes the descriptions match sky lanterns released at weddings and parties.
