What happened

Eight minutes after leaving Boise, the crew saw five, then four more, objects in loose formation against the sunset. Smith told the Idaho Statesman they were "flat and round-ish" and "like a pancake standing on end." They kept them in sight for about 12 minutes. Before takeoff Smith had joked that he would believe in the discs when he saw them.
