What happened
The family first saw five lights in an arc about 65 miles away, which became an upside-down V. Closer in, the lights looked set into a shape like a 60-degree carpenter's square, which passed silently 100-150 ft overhead toward Piestewa Peak. Actor Kurt Russell, flying that night, reported the lights to air traffic control. Robert Sheaffer and James McGaha attribute this event to five Operation Snowbird A-10s flying in formation to Davis-Monthan AFB.
