What happened

Borman radioed that he had a "bogey" in view, and the crew described a debris field of "hundreds of little particles." Asked whether it was the booster, the crew answered that they had actual sightings. Oberg's trajectory analysis ties the comments to booster-related debris, and Borman later said what he saw was not a UFO. He said that when he offered to explain this on Unsolved Mysteries, the producers were not sure they wanted him. A separate "Gemini 7 UFO photo" of two glowing ovals is a forgery made by airbrushing the spacecraft's nose away from two sunlit thrusters. The transcript was part of the Pentagon's May 2026 release.
