What happened
The Atrevida crew saw an intense yellowish-blue light move out from the shore toward the ship. Near Gáldar the doctor described a huge transparent blue sphere with two tall figures inside, hanging above the taxi. A Spanish Air Force investigating officer considered aircraft, a missile, aurora and a meteor and rejected each. His report was declassified in 1994. Later research matched the sighting to Poseidon missile launches from a U.S. submarine that night, with the expanding exhaust lit by sunlight at high altitude.
