What happened
Police were flooded with calls about a large boomerang with red, blue and green lights, and some officers saw it. The Times Union reports more than 300 reports on March 24, 1983 alone, all describing a V-shaped craft. Yorktown police later said the lights were planes in formation. In April 1983 private pilots did fly a V formation to fool locals.
